Innovation portfolio
Undertaking innovation should be an investment: the process and act of innovation is dedicating resources, time, decision-making, and leadership attention towards trying something different in the hope of achieving a better outcome. Yet innovation is an uncertain investment. A portfolio offers the chance to spread risk across a range of investments. A portfolio approach is highly relevant for innovation. By investing in several innovations, the chances of getting a desired or useful result are increased.
What we do
Testbed Sweden Precision Health Cancer is based on a diverse and holistic portfolio of actors and actions to meet identified barriers to development and equitable implementation of precision health in routine cancer care. The partners are all active in various areas of relevance for the development of precision health in cancer within the innovation milieu and provides key expertise, knowledge, and contacts to allow for expected progress and results.
The Testbed’s clinical component will
drive the development of new precision diagnostics
facilitate the establishment of a national Molecular Tumour Board
develop national precision medicine trials, including novel study designs
The Testbed’s non-clinical component will establish the surrounding ecosystem critical for implementation by
data infrastructure and analytics
regulatory support and innovation
health economics and the exploration of novel payment models
models of implementation based on coherent patient journeys
education, guidelines and knowledge support

Work Packages
To facilitate and structure the interactions and portfolio of activities, specific Work Packages (WP) have been established.
The WP:s are clustered in four areas:
Precision Medicine Clinical Trials,
Molecular Diagnostics & Molecular Tumour Board,
Innovative Implementation Methods and
System change: Accelerating and Transforming.
The overall and long-term goal of this milieu is to translate research results into clinical practice. More specifically, Testbed Sweden Precision Health Cancer aims to fully establish an organised multi-partner national network, experienced and knowledgeable to deliver and facilitate precision cancer care, and ultimately improve outcomes for cancer patients in Sweden based on a precision health approach.
Methodology
Testbed Sweden Precision Health Cancer is a Vision Zero Cancer flagship initiative and as such applies a mission-oriented innovation approach and design for systemic change.
Mission-driven innovation facilitates change in complex adaptive systems by convening and enabling a coalition of the willing who share an overarching vision and working principles.
In this national testbed for scientific evaluation and implementation of precision health based on the performance of clinical trial pilots, a multitude of stakeholders are coming together to accelerate the national implementation of precision health in cancer throughout the cancer continuum.
